Ender’s Game is Already a Reality for the U.S. Military

The futuristic world in the recently debuted film Ender’s Game—where kids are trained to fight the world’s battles in immersive, simulated war games—is more realistic than you might think. The U.S. military is funding a small army of game developers, filmmakers, special-effects experts, artists, and engineers at the Institute for Creative Technologies at the University of Southern California. The systems and software they are developing there provide a new training method for soldiers: complex and startlingly realistic immersive simulations for situations both on and off the battlefield.
